The Kidde P4010ACSCO is a combined AC/DC powered carbon monoxide and smoke photoelectric alarm containing a 10-year sealed backup battery and voice message system. The voice warning feature accompanies the 85 dB tone during an alarm event and helps reduce confusion with verbal announcements such as "Replace Alarm" at the end of the life of the alarm and "Silence Mode On" when an annoying alarm is silenced. This alarm uses innovative technology to offer a rapid response to real fires & comma; in addition to protecting it from carbon monoxide and drastically reducing the possibility of annoying alarms. Intelligent sensor technology combines the detection capabilities of a photoelectric smoke sensor with that of an electrochemical sensor & comma; that is used to detect CO. Since carbon monoxide is present in all fires & comma; the fact that both detection chambers work together in a single alarm is a breakthrough in the fire safety industry. When either sensor detects a potential hazard & comma; it will communicate with the other. Depending on what is detected & comma; the alarm will adjust its sensitivity to smoke to better discriminate between a real danger and a false one. This constant communication improves overall alarm performance in all fires and significantly reduces the chance of an annoying alarm. The P4010 series Kidde alarms contain 10-year-old tamper-proof batteries that eliminate the need to replace them and eliminate concern about unauthorized removal. Users are even more protected from the battery's night chirping thanks to the unit's ambient light detection function & comma; which sets a day/night cycle and prevents the alarm squeaking in dark conditions.
